OUR DOCTRINE

Theology and doctrine are often derided as intolerant or antiquated, but what people think about God matters deeply. It matters because theology shapes both creed and culture. In other words, because we believe the gospel of grace we are relentless about shaping a culture of grace.

The doctrinal outlook of Immanuel Fellowship is historical, orthodox Christianity — our beliefs are mainstream, biblical, and Jesus-focused. We include people of many denominations, and everyone belongs, because we keep Jesus first.

Our convictions are essentially reflected in the early creeds: Apostles’ Creed (c.180), the Nicene Creed (325), the Athanasian Creed (c. 500), and in church confessions like The Gospel Coalition Confessional Statement (2005) and the Lausanne Covenant (1974). Additionally, we draw heavily from the Reformed confessions such as the Heidelberg Catechism (1563) and Westminster Confession (1647). We hold these truths in humble conviction.

THe Lausanne covenant

The Lausanne Covenant is one of the most significant documents in modern church history. It defined what it means to be evangelical, and challenged Christians to work together to make Jesus Christ known throughout the world. You can learn more by reading the covenant on their website.
